things left unspoken always give you a little bit more leeway. a little more room for denial.. a little more room for a little tweaking.. a little more room for comfort. eventually what's left if what you want to remember. who knows if it's real anymore.. after some time you won't even know yourself.

most of our memory is a memory of a memory.. or a memory of a memory of a memory. i was just telling someone about this the other day.. about how this lecturer claimed to remember being born.. to remember a light at the end of the tunnel. ha! but the point he's making is that what we know as our past may not even be THE past. it's just a memory recalled so often (and slightly modified each time it's recalled) that it's no more what it was.

memory fades reality. that's all there is to it.

maybe that's why some people are so obsessed with keeping diaries. it's a slightly more accurate way of keeping a memory intact. though i suppose some things are more spinal than cerebral.. like drinking lemon barley will always remind me of *ehem*. i wonder who i'll think of when i have a soya bean drink.
