falling in love is like being on the expressway
don't you think?

you get on the expressway and from then on
no more traffic lights
no red lights to have a break
not even yellow lights to warn you

and on the expressway
there are no u-turns
no turning back
no reversing
no going back to the time before you fell in love
take the next exit and make your way back to square one if you like
but there's no pretending you haven't loved before

and if you miss a sign
you miss it
and that's that
you've lost your chance to take the right exit
was that the sign telling you it's time to let go?
who knows.. you've missed it
take the next exit and if you're lucky
you might survive without too many battle wounds

and the deeper you are
the harder it is to leave
being on the first lane is always harder
you might not make it in time to the exit

the thing about expressways is
by the time you realise you're there
there's nothing much you can do about it
thankfully some people do reach their destinations
