seasons out of time

There is no remembrance of men of old,
and even those who are yet to come
will not be remembered
by those who follow.

books are wonderful. they open your world to countless others. a person's experiences are limited.. and somewhere out there, there are things not yet met, feelings not yet discovered, events not yet encountered. where does the wisdom to handle and deal with such things come from if not from books?

we can learn so much from books. we read about mistakes people make that we should avoid.. and about how people different from yourself think and feel. the best thing is you can use all this new found knowledge.. in how you see circumstances and people around you.

so here's a great book i'm recommeding to all of you: The Conjuror's Bird by Martin Davies. i LOVE it.

met up with dr c today. and he bought me a coke!! i'm going to keep the bottle hahahahaha. i was going to pay for it when he said, it's paid for. =D

we sat at the atrium and talked for about 45 minutes. talked about quite a lot of things too but i can't remember exactly what.

anyway that was a very well-spent 45 minutes. i've nearly forgotten how much i like talking to him. the little gifts life brings to your doorstep..

i ended up spending 15 minutes preparing for the presentation last night. i refuse to spend hours and hours on it. dr f is cool anyway.. he wouldn't mind.

so jane and i did the presentation today.. sitting on the bed. we asked how he would like us to present it (ie, standing, sitting, etc) and he said we could sit on the bed if we wanted.. so we would be slightly higher up. how cool is that.

and when we were finished he said we did a good job. ??? ok as long as you think so. ha. as i said, i spent 15 minutes on it.

oh and we took blood from each other today. i took dr f's.. and accidentally pricked him on the arm. haha poor dr f.. but he offered.

sometimes i think i'm getting from bad to worse. i have a presentation to give tomorrow and guess what.. i only remembered today. everyone in our group forgot.. how cool is that.

but trust me.. i'm not the worst. david probably is. he's not even going in tomorrow.. because he has a "flu-like illness".. whatever that is. so me and jane are going to do the first bit and the last bit respectively.. and see if we can get away with postponing our presentation. (see how scheming we are.. we let the absent one do the middle bit..)

sleep.. i'm sorry but it seems like you have to be sacrificed today. then again.. you should be used to it. but believe me when i say that deep down, you're the most important to me.. and i love you dearly.

i would have thought that at 21 i would be over certain things. i would have thought that at 21 i would react differently to certain situations from the way i would at 15. i would have thought that at 21 i wouldn't allow myself be caught in certain situations.

i suppose i was wrong. i haven't changed much.

dug up a memory i've kept in the recesses of my mind today. it's a memory well-embedded.. but i haven't thought about this incident for ages.. at least not from this angle.

that was probably the longest and hardest i've ever cried.. with the exception of when my grandpa passed away. i cried and cried and cried.. i didn't care who was watching me. (and that was in a public place too..) and i don't think i've cried as hard ever since. that was when i thought i was losing a friend.. a friend who meant so much so much to me. i cried long and hard.. and thought long and hard too.. about all the possible reasons it happened.

i don't think i've changed much in that respect.

i should stop doing these quizes..

You Are 50% Boyish and 50% Girlish

You are pretty evenly split down the middle - a total eunuch.
Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes.
You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don't actively fight them.
You're just you. You don't try to be what people expect you to be.

You Are a Boston Creme Donut

You have a tough exterior. No one wants to mess with you.
But on the inside, you're a total pushover and completely soft.
You're a traditionalist, and you don't change easily.
You're likely to eat the same doughnut every morning, and pout if it's sold out.

Your Heart Is Pink

In relationships, you like to play innocent - even though you aren't.
Each time you fall in love, it's like falling for the first time.

Your flirting style: Coy

Your lucky first date: Picnic in the park

Your dream lover: Is both caring and dominant

What you bring to relationships: Romance

Your Seduction Style: Prized Object

The seduction game you play is tried, true, and still effective: hard to get.
You know that the best seducers turn the tables - and get their crush to seduce them.
The one running has the power, and you're a challenge that is worth the chase.

You are a master of enticing and pulling back. Giving a little and taking some away.
You are controlled enough to know rewards come after a long seduction dance.
Even though you want to call, email, or say "I love you" first - you don't!

You're style is the perfect mix of hot and cold - so much so that you have many suitors.
Think Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's ... or any of those creepy guys from the Bachelor.
You're skilled at inspiring a chase. The real test is picking the person to slow down for.

yeah right.. "so much so that you have many suitors". ok this is it.. no more quizes.

i'm getting carried away with this...

Your Five Factor Personality Profile

Extroversion:

You have low extroversion.
You are quiet and reserved in most social situations.
A low key, laid back lifestyle is important to you.
You tend to bond slowly, over time, with one or two people.

Conscientiousness:

You have medium conscientiousness.
You're generally good at balancing work and play.
When you need to buckle down, you can usually get tasks done.
But you've been known to goof off when you know you can get away with it.

Agreeableness:

You have high agreeableness.
You are easy to get along with, and you value harmony highly.
Helpful and generous, you are willing to compromise with almost anyone.
You give people the benefit of the doubt and don't mind giving someone a second chance.

Neuroticism:

You have medium neuroticism.
You're generally cool and collected, but sometimes you do panic.
Little worries or problems can consume you, draining your energy.
Your life is pretty smooth, but there's a few emotional bumps you'd like to get rid of.

Openness to experience:

Your openness to new experiences is medium.
You are generally broad minded when it come to new things.
But if something crosses a moral line, there's no way you'll approve of it.
You are suspicious of anything too wacky, though you do still consider creativity a virtue.

another one..

You Have a Melancholic Temperament

Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything.
You are a soft-hearted daydreamer. You long for your ideal life.
You love silence and solitude. Everyday life is usually too chaotic for you.

Given enough time alone, it's easy for you to find inner peace.
You tend to be spiritual, having found your own meaning of life.
Wise and patient, you can help people through difficult times.

At your worst, you brood and sulk. Your negative thoughts can trap you.
You are reserved and withdrawn. This makes it hard to connect to others.
You tend to over think small things, making decisions difficult.
